FOSSILS FOSSILS FOSSILS
These are mostly ye olde tree analogues, and the two black fossils are calamites. No collection was allowed here, which didn’t stop the folks that chipped holes in that cliff face >:(
Whales in the Bay of Fundy! We saw three of the four species of whale in the area- fin, humpback, and minke. The right whales are a rare sight that the guides in our boat had seen maybe twice this year. There were 6+ fins, 2+ minke, 1-2 humpbacks, a few seals, and uncounted porpoise. An exciting, if tiring, day!
First four pics are humpbacks, the first one we encountered. 5 is the only pic I got of the speedy minke, lovely fellas that we unfortunately didn’t see up close. The last two are one of the long bois- a fin. Also very pretty, but most notably very long.
The Bay of Fundy. First day, and we saw dolphins, seals, and whales from kayaks!

Sea cave in Nova Scotia, 2018
Unlike other sea caves we saw on this trip, which were often shale, this outcrop and cave was made entirely of a conglomerate. It looked like sandstone from a distance, and was lit a fabulous red by the setting sun.

A handsome yearling black vulture in rehab. They were unreleasable, but found an education home. Go well, my friend!
